For Immediate Release

Strock Enterprises, Inc. has been selected by Remodeling magazine to join the Remodeling Big50. The Big50 awards will be  presented at a gala dinner at the Remodeling Leadership Conference in Arlington, VA on May 13, 2011. The 2011 Big50 winners are featured in the May issue of Remodeling, a national trade publication read by more than 80,000 professional remodeling contractors.
Each year since 1986, the Remodeling Big50 inducts 50 owners of remodeling companies that have set exceptionally high standards for professionalism and integrity through exemplary business practices, craftsmanship, and impact in their community or the industry at large. Big50 remodelers run successful, often growing, companies of various sizes that have taken the lead in raising industry standards.
The Big50 selection process has become increasingly rigorous in recent years, and the result, Remodeling editors believe, is one of the strongest classes to date. All 2011 inductees “stood up to detailed examinations of their businesses and their books, and they all demonstrated an admirably deft ability to restructure, retrench, and flat-out hustle to remain viable in a challenging economic climate,” according to Remodeling.
“We are very honored to receive this distinction,” says Brenda Strock, President of Strock Enterprises, Inc. “The award recognizes excellence and leadership, and we are privileged to be named to this select group of remodelers.”
Remodeling editors, columnists, industry leaders, and the companies themselves make the nominations each year.  Following a lengthy evaluation and interview process, the editors select the 50 individuals who exemplify the best of the industry that year, and who have something to offer other remodelers in proven practices. Winners are selected in these categories: business savvy, fine design, industry impact, market wise, movers & shakers, niches, sales & marketing, and teamwork. Strock Enterprises, Inc. was selected for the category of teamwork.
Remodeling, published by Hanley Wood, LLC, is the leading publication in the home improvement industry. Designed to address the specific concerns of residential remodeling pros, the magazine is both a business tool and an industry leader for a market that reached nearly $300 billion in 2010.

Summerville Kitchen Renovation

We recently had the great pleasure of working with clients in Summerville to update their kitchen.  The goal of the project was to keep the kitchen within the existing footprint, and gain storage space while making the kitchen feel more open, airy, and bright.

As you can see the kitchen was VERY Dark - Dark cabinetry, dark floors, inadequate work lighting, and a white tile backsplash and countertop.

In the mid 70's these cabinets were THE thing in Charleston.    Simpson Built cabinets - built to last. But very out of date by todays standards.

The lack of storage space had the homeowners using the countertops as additional storage.

The finished Renovation.  These cabinets are actually the 2010 version of the original cabinets - built by Mr. Simpsons Son - Cliff Simpson.  The same basic layout was kept - large corner storage cabinets were added into each corner, the cabinets were extended all the way to the ceiling creating a whole extra shelf of storage space.  New appliances were installed from Dacor.  The tile countertop and backsplash were replaced with granite.  The lighting in the kitchen was changed to all recessed lighting with undercabinet lighting throughout the entire kitchen.  Not visible in the photos is a workstation/island in the bay window that easily seats three and adds even more storage.  The floors were resanded and finished slightly lighter than before - brightening up the entire kitchen.
